The Rolex Sydney Hobart has become one of the most important offshore yacht races in the world – and for good reason. It is a true test of sailor and sailboat with rough seas and high winds not uncommon. To hold the Tattersall Cup trophy aloft at the finish certainly ranks high on any true mariner’s to-do list.
Beneteau has earned quite a record at this epic race and our buttons are popping with pride at this year’s results.
It was a sweeping victory for Beneteau in IRC Division 3. Bravo, a First 40 ranked first, and the 2nd and 3rd places went to Black Sheep, a First 45 and Ariel, a First 40. The owner of Bravo, Robbo Robertson had steered his former First 40, Lunchtime Legend to win IRC Division 3 in the race in 2013. Robbo therefore won twice the Sydney Hobart sailing his First 40s!
If a Beneteau can handle the hardships of the Sydney Hobart, just image what yours can do at your local regatta or club race!
